Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar joined House colleagues and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in Washington DC to call on President Biden to take executive action to cancel up to $50,000 in debt for federal student loan borrowers.

“Millions can’t pay rent and face housing insecurity, millions lost their jobs due to the pandemic and can’t afford basic necessities, the last thing people should be worried about is student debt.”

Omar says erasing the debt is an important first step and she’s urging the president to help “lift the burden” of those struggling with student debt.
