Influential Republican lawmakers are asking Governor Tim Walz to announce his intentions Monday, a week before his restaurant and bar shutdown order expires — and to let those establishments re-open at 50 percent capacity. Prior Lake Senator Eric Pratt says the governor gave restaurants only two days’ notice when imposing the original shutdown order in November — and then earlier this month…

“The governor was gonna give them a week’s notice.   He was gonna announce his intentions on a Friday. He delayed that (to) that following Monday, and then again delayed it until Wednesday, which didn’t give ’em any time and left ’em in limbo.”

Pratt says COVID numbers are coming down and most of the restaurants have not been the source of outbreaks.   A Walz spokesman says there’s no comment and the governor plans to announce later next week what he plans to do.
