The Saint Peter Council has signed off on a 2.7-percent across the board increase for police officers in 2018.

City Administrator Todd Prafke says the agreement falls within the budget parameters.

“I think it’s good for everyone to have all of these things take place and be settles. You know, we have three other bargaining units that have settled, so it’s great to have that done. I think the council’s goal here is to always pay folks fairly and appropriately.”

There are currently 13 officers on staff in the Saint Peter Police Department.

City Staff report the higher increase in pay is due to the wage marketplace and the relative ranking among similar sized jurisdictions dating back to 2011.
