South Central College’s Computer Integrated Machining program has been named a winner of the Community College STEM Award by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program and the Siemens Foundation.

SCC will receive $50,000 and is among just eight STEM community college programs recognized for providing outstanding preparation for high-demand jobs in advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and information technology.

South Central College President Dr. Annette Parker.

Dr. Annette Parker said it’s an honor to receive the award, and added, “The funding associated with this award will provide tremendous opportunities to our students and manufacturers in our region.”

Half of the money will be allocated for further program development, and college officials say the other half as scholarships to students, known as Siemens Technical Scholars.
