The Brown County Sheriff’s Department and other area agencies continue to search for a 73-year-old man reported missing on Sunday.

Deputies spent a second day Monday looking for Vincent Mathiowetz. His vehicle was found Sunday at a boat landing on the Cottonwood River near Highway 4 south of Sleepy Eye, but several hours of searching did lot lead to the missing man.

The search resumed Monday, and Sheriff’s Deputies were on the water with a river boat using side sonar and Northstar Search and Rescue assisted in the search efforts with handlers and K-9s. Officials say both the tracking dogs on land and the cadaver dogs on land and water all gave strong indication Mathiowetz t is in the water.

They add that strong currents, low water visibility, and river debris are hampering the search and recovery efforts.

The search is back underway Tuesday.
