State lawmakers are expressing concerns about the recently-rolled out Vaccine Connector meant to help Minnesotans connect with the COVID-19 vaccine as it becomes available. Senator Karin Housley of Stillwater says the program asks for too much personal information, such as sexual preferences…

“You’re uploading this to a government website, one that I would not trust and I don’t know why there’s such a need to grab hold of the data.”

State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm responds…

“It’s intended to be a source of information not an appetite for data on the health department’s part, but a desire to communicate with people in specific ways that apply to their specific situation.”

Malcolm does, however, agree with Housley that the Vaccine Connector website could be improved to make connecting seniors to available vaccinations easier and more of a priority.
