“Feeding lies.” That’s what Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky today called out President Trump for in the wake of rioting at the U-S Capitol. McConnell said Trump “tried to use fear and violence” to stop a government proceeding simply because he did not like the outcome of the election. Democratic Senator Tina Smith agrees and says…

“I’m glad to hear him say that and the question is where do we go from here and I think the next and most important step is that we figure out how to hold this president and those who enabled this dangerous behavior accountable at the same time that we do the really, really important work that we have before us in the Senate.”

The Senate–with a very narrow Democratic majority–is expected to take up the House’s approved article of impeachment soon.
