Recent listening sessions held across the state are giving Senator Tina Smith a clear picture of the shortage of affordable housing in Minnesota.

“In more rural areas, you really notice the challenge because you have to just drive so much further. I’ve talked to employers and workers in southwestern Minnesota for example who are literally busing people from an hour away because they can’t find an affordable place to live.”

Smith says we need to continue to incentivize home buyers and find ways to make it more attractive for private sector builders to increase the production of affordable housing.
