A key state House committee today (9am) is considering a “sick and safe time” bill. Bill author, Duluth Democrat Liz Olson says over 900-thousand Minnesotans don’t have such a benefit and her bill…

“Provides an earned benefit for employees that work, they can earn a certain number and for this bill for every 30 hours they work, they can earn an hour of paid time off.”

A similar bill narrowly passed in the House last session but stalled in the Republican Senate with opponents of the bill arguing that government job mandates could drive employers–especially small businesses–out of business.
