A 26-year-old Mankato woman is facing assault charges for slapping a coworker across the face, and police have requested they be bumped to felony level.

The Mankato Department of Public Safety says Breanna Gehring admitted that she hit another employee for taking something that belonged to her.

Court records show that Gehring has been convicted of misdemeanor assault on three prior occasions – in January and October of 2016 and in April of 2017, all in Blue Earth County – and that prompted police to ask the prosecutor’s office to charge her with two counts of felony assault for the current incident.
