Martin County Sheriff’s Department officials say all of the recent rainfall has led them to issue a warning to boaters on all of the county’s lakes.

Officials say the lakes are high enough that passing boat traffic could lead to damage to shorelines and property and cause erosion, so they have issued a “Slow No Wake” countywide. That means boaters have to operate at the slowest speed possible to maintain steerage but no more than five miles per hour.

Deputies will keep an eye on the lake levels in order to lift it as soon as possible.
