As I’m getting older I am learning more about myself and the world around me. Learning many people have some sort of anxiety, how it affects them all differs but maybe how it’s caused is the same.
First, is there anyone in your circle of friends you secretly HATE? 63% of people in a new survey said they can’t go to ANY parties or get-togethers without running into at least one person they’d rather avoid.
Here are the top 10 things that cause us anxiety at social events:
- Somebody you don’t like shows up.
- You want to leave but feel pressured to stay.
- You feel like you don’t fit in.
- The only person you know is the host.
- It’s just not any fun.
- It’s a potluck, and no one is eating the food you brought.
- No one is drinking the beverage you brought.
- Just WORRYING someone you don’t like might show up.
- You can’t drink, because you have to drive home.
- All the food and drink options suck.
If you can just suffer through the beginning of a party, you might be okay though. The average person said they start to relax 14 minutes in. But we know within 10 minutes if we’re going to leave early or not.
