The new school year is getting underway as COVID cases continue to spike statewide. State Department of Education Commissioner Heather Mueller says:

“The safety, health and wellness of our students, staff and families is always our top priority.”

Mueller says she’s in regular contact with school administrators and school board members about being proactive to prevent the spread of COVID in the state’s schools. And she says her department continues to partner with the Department of Health to make sure that they are “aware of everything that is transpiring as it pertains to the Delta variant and its possible impact on schools.”
