Minnesota lawmakers are approving emergency funding of $1 million to combat a growing avian flu problem. The funding bill is being sent to Governor Walz for his signature. Cases of the virus have already been found in 24 bird flocks in 12 different Minnesota counties. The bill passed the state House and Senate with only one combined vote against. Minnesota is the largest turkey-producing state in America with about 40 million birds.
