A bill at the State Capitol aims to lower the cost of prescription drugs by promoting the use of generic versions in competition with name brand drugs.

“This would level that playing field and really bring that decision making back to the prescriber, along with the patient of which product to use.”

Dr. David Sperl with Essentia Health says the measure would allow physicians to have the choice of which medication to prescribe–rather than insurance companies and payers. The bill has bipartisan support in the Senate and House
