North Kato sets .5% reduction in proposed tax rate for 2019, Tax Levy to total $6.9M

North Mankato is moving forward with a .5-percent reduction in the tax rate for 2019 and has set the proposed Tax Levy for next year at nearly 6.9-million dollars. A North Mankato man made his initial appearance before a Nicollet County Judge on Monday afternoon following a standoff with Authorities on Friday night. According to court documents, 59-year old Scott Douglas Johnston is facing two Felony counts of 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and one Felony count of Terroristic Threats.  Johnston is accused of pointing a gun at two females, ages 8 and 9, and yelling that he would shoot them if they didn't stop playing on his lawn. Amboy teen facing six Felony sexual conduct charges in Nicollet County

Authorities say a teen is facing six criminal sexual conduct charges in Nicollet County. According to the report, the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office received a call in April that reported a juvenile female had told family members that 19-year old Cameron Lee Forbrook of Amboy was sexually abusing her.  After investigations by the Martin County and Nicollet County Sheriff's Offices, Authorities determined that criminal conduct took place in both jurisdictions. Forbrook has been charged with Three Felony Counts of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and three Felony Counts of 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.

Man arrested in Saint Peter after traffic stop yields marijuana and cash

A man is behind bars in Nicollet County following a traffic stop in Saint Peter on Tuesday afternoon. According to the report, 23-year old Jeremiah Devon Saeger was pulled over on Minnesota Avenue at Nassau Street shortly before 4 p.m. Nicollet County Deputies arrested Saeger after marijuana and cash were reportedly produced.  Charges are pending with a requested Felony count of 5th Degree Sale of Drugs. The case is still under investigation.

Motorcyclist injured in accident at CR15 and HWY 22 intersection in Saint Peter

A motorcyclist was airlifted after an accident near River's Edge Hospital and Clinic in Saint Peter. The accident was reported around 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 22 and Nicollet County Road 15. Scanner audio indicated the motorcyclist was unconscious and suffered a head wound. A helicopter was requested for transportation. KTOE News will have more on this incident as it becomes available. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.

Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office preparing for remodel this summer

Officials are preparing for a remodel of the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office this summer. On Thursday, the Civil Process and Records Division will temporarily move to the lower level of the Nicollet County Government Center. The space will be shared with the Emergency Management Office and all Sheriff's Office business will also occur at the site. Visiting access to the jail will take place by the Security Garage. During construction, any foreclosure sales will be held in the basement at the Government Center, outside the Emergency Management Office. Work on remodeling the office is expected to be complete in December.

Black bears spotted near Amboy and Courtland, DNR believes bear range is moving southwest

According to the DNR bear sightings database, the black bear was seen at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday along the Minnesota River near Nicollet County Highway 24. Authorities rescue lost kayaker on Swan Lake in Nicollet County

Authorities in Nicollet County came to the rescue of a kayaker who became lost on Swan Lake on Saturday evening. Shortly after 6:30 p.m., the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office received a call from the kayaker, Jade St. Germaine of Watertown, Wisconsin, that stated she became disorientated in tall weeds and trees after leaving her kayak to explore an island on foot.  Deputies and a Conservation Officer were able to locate the missing kayaker with the use of a boat. Two injured in Nicollet County crash on Saturday

Two people were injured Saturday evening in a crash six miles east of Nicollet. The Minnesota State Patrol reports 62-year old Leann Rae Sallstrom of Eden Prairie was driving westbound on Highway 99 at Nicollet County Road 13 when she collided with a Dodge at the intersection. The report says the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m.  Sallstrom suffered non-life threatening injures. The driver of the Dodge, 61-year old William Warren Macemon of Mankato was also injured. Both drivers were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato.

Local man facing 19 charges after FBI investigates reports of child pornography

A man is behind bars in Nicollet County after he allegedly sent pictures and video of underage girls to an undercover FBI agent. The Nicollet County Sheriffs Office reports 37-year old Phillip Mark Reinhart is facing 19 charges that include Felony 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, Possession of Child Pornography and other charges. Local Authorities executed a search warrant at the suspect's home after receiving information from the FBI. Reinhart was later arrested at his place of employment in New Ulm.
