Inmate facing assault charges after reportedly throwing body fluid at Corrections Officer

A man behind bars in Blue Earth County is facing charges for allegedly throwing fecal matter on a Corrections Officer. Court documents say 23-year old Quantral Marquis Davis was throwing what appeared to be water in and around his cell on Friday. The Correction Officer was attempting to shut the water off when Davis threw fecal liquid on the Officer.  According to the report, some of the liquid went into his eyeball and he later went to Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato to receive treatment for injuries and exposure to body fluid. Dayton orders flags to half-staff for corrections officer

Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered flags at state and federal buildings to be flown at half-staff Thursday to honor a corrections officer killed by an inmate at Stillwater state prison. Officer Joseph Gomm was killed Wednesday at the state's flagship prison after being attacked by an inmate serving time for homicide. Edward Muhammad Johnson had been disciplined several times at the prison for multiple violent encounters before the fatal attack. Mankato Officer taken to the hospital following crash near MSU

A Mankato Police Officer was injured in a crash over the noon hour on Tuesday near the MSU-Mankato campus.  According to the report, the accident occurred on Stadium Road, just west of Warren Street at 12:39 p.m. The Minnesota State Patrol reports 35-year old Officer Grant Mitchell Christensen of Mankato was making a u-turn to initiate a traffic stop when a Honda Odyssey struck his squad vehicle. A Mankato man is behind bars in Blue Earth County after allegedly assaulting an Officer after Tri-City Police responded to a domestic incident in Vernon Center. Authorities say that 911 was called on Sunday afternoon after 28-year old Matthew James Smisek began to get into a heated argument with his girlfriend. The victim stated that a witness might have overacted. Waseca man accused of kicking Mankato Police Officer after arrest

A Waseca man is facing charges after allegedly kicking a Mankato Police Officer on Sunday morning. The criminal complaint states that 42-year old David Charles Janus was very intoxicated and was removed from a bar in the downtown entertainment district shortly after 2 a.m. due to a disturbance.
