Dorn plans step down from role with YWCA in 2019

YWCA Mankato Executive Director Barb Dorn says she plans to step down in 2019 after six years with the organization. After taking over in 2013, Dorn says she believes the YWCA has plenty of future opportunities and is proud of the work accomplished at the organization.  During her tenure, the YWCA expanded programming for women and girls, launched a Racial Justice department, started the Power to Believe Campaign, established the endowed YWCA Women’s Fund of the Mankato Area Foundation, and increased attendance at premier events that include Women of Distinction, YWCA Women’s Leadership Conference and It’s Time to Talk: Forums on [...]

Mankato YMCA holds community meeting to talk about a new eastside facility

Nearly 100 community leaders gathered on Thursday morning to talk about the future of a new YMCA on the eastside of Mankato. YMCA Resource Director for the State of Minnesota Mark Hennessy says they are still in the pre-planning stage. "Before a lot of money is spent on additional studies and assessments, we wanna gather as much information and really define the community needs in a very thoughtful way. LMCIT honors Saint Peter City Administrator Todd Prafke for 21 years with organization

After 21 years with the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT), Saint Peter City Administrator Todd Prafke is leaving his work the organization. "Twenty-one years is a long time right," said Prafke. "So sometimes there's an opportunity for others to take the reigns a little bit and to do other things.
