North Mankato man facing Felony charges after standoff with Authorities

A North Mankato man is behind bars in Nicollet County after a nearly four-hour standoff with numerous law enforcement agencies on Friday night. Around 8 p.m., a call to the North Mankato Police Department stated that 59-year old Scott Douglas Johnston pointed a gun at two juvenile females. Street Department shop in Madelia burns down, Officials say the building is a total loss

The Madelia Street Department shop was lost to fire on Thursday afternoon. Shortly after 2 p.m., Authorities responded to the fire call at 519 2nd Street Northeast and found the building completely effulged in flames when they arrived. Madelia Police, Fire and Rescue Squad worked to bring the fire under control around 5 p.m. and personnel cleared the scene by 9 p.m. Saint James Fire crews were also called for mutual aid. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal indicates that the fire was likely accidental. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire. No one was injured in the incident.

Mankato Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating a man who attempted to lure a child into his vehicle. According to the report, shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Wings Over White Oaks Park on Tanager Road, an adult male asked a 9-year old child to come with him. Mankato Police are looking for a suspect involved in an alleged attempted assault on a 14-year old girl on Wednesday. According to the report, the incident occurred at Ray Erlandson Park around 8:30 p.m. and the girl was able to get away and make it home safely.  Police say the suspect is a black male in his early 20’s with a thin muscular build and approximately 5-foot 6-inches tall. A Garden City man is facing four charges in Blue Earth County after Mankato Police responded to a report of a male and female punching each other in a parked car. According to court documents, the female left the scene in a vehicle but Police located the male, 38-year old Stefan Joseph Wasinger walking near Broad Street. The New Richland Police Department reports that numerous vehicles were gone through on Monday evening into the early morning hours on Tuesday. Police say they have taken multiple reports and have also obtained video. According to the report, only a small amount of cash has been taken from vehicles. Mankato Police are seeking the public's help to find suspects involved in a Felony theft of construction materials. According to the report, the items were taken from a residential construction site on the north end of Mankato on June 14. A 2007 to 2013 heavy duty black GMC four-door pickup was observed on video being used to load the stolen construction materials. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has joined the search for a missing Mankato woman. Mankato Police report they are still actively searching for 46-year Wendy Lynn Khan who was last heard from by family on June 1. Missing Mankato woman 46-year-old Wendy Khan. The BCA and Mankato Police began examining Khan's west Mankato residence on Thursday for any items that may lead to her whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
