Xcel targeting all power to be restored in Mankato on Friday, Saturday in Waterville

Hundreds remain without power in the KTOE listening area Friday afternoon after severe storms swept through on Thursday and a major portion of the outage is in Waterville where over 2-thousand customers are impacted. Xcel Energy Regional Vice President of Distribution Operations Kelly Bloch says crews have been working around the clock to restore power.  "We have made some really good progress in the Mankato area, we expect to have everybody back in service in Mankato by this (Friday) evening. Power out for many in listening area following strong storms on Monday

Strong thunderstorms pushed through the KTOE Listening area on Monday afternoon, knocking out power at numerous locations shortly after 4 p.m. Xcel Energy reported over 1-thousand customers were impacted in Cleveland, Kasota, Le Sueur, Mankato, Saint Peter, Janesville, Waseca and Waterville. Trees were reported down in the impacted areas along with power lines. BENCO Electric Cooperative reports there are outages in Eagle Lake along with areas west and north of Mankato. Crews are assessing damage created by the storms that were moving at 55 miles per hour and producing wind gusts as strong as 70 miles per hour and heavy lightning. [...]
