Highway 109 from Wells to Alden will open back up to motorists on Friday, according to MnDOT. The ten-mile segment of road has been under construction since early May, with a detour using Highway 22. Work on the 5.8-million dollar project included resurfacing, replacing more than 20 culverts, reconstruction of pedestrian ramps and utility work in Wells and Alden. Six miles of Highway 14 in the Mankato metro will receive upgrades starting on Monday. “Highway 14 won’t be closed, it’ll just be brought down to a single lane or some detours for the ramps. But yeah, it’s more resurfacing sections of the highway and making some more maintenance and upkeep of the road," says MnDOT District 7 Public Affairs Coordinator Anne Wolff.
