Well, we survived another snowstorm, although the snow pile outside my home could bury me in a freak landslide at any given moment. Now, this weekend will feature some freezing rain and then snow on top. We're getting to the point where I think we can claim this as the worst winter ever. Winter storm brings nine inches of snow, morning commute headaches

Nine inches of snow fell in Mankato Sunday night into Monday morning. MnDOT plow camera on U.S. Highway 14 near Janesville. "We are still dealing with this snow as we head through the day," said WeatherEye Meteorologist Megan Mulford, "Then some scattered flurries as we head into the afternoon. We're going to see wind gusts as high as 30-to-35, causing some travel concerns." Six county roads in Blue Earth County closed due to high water

Several Blue Earth County roads are being closed due to water being over the roadway. Six deadly crashes, 374 DWI arrests over Memorial Day weekend

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety reports it was a deadly Memorial Day weekend with six deaths in six separate crashes around the state. Preliminary numbers show 118 people have died in traffic crashes this year on Minnesota roads, compared to 115 at this time last year. The Minnesota State Patrol reports it responded to 228 property damage crashes over the weekend, along with 37 personal injury and five serious injury crashes. Law Enforcement also arrested 374 people for DWI over the holiday weekend. Do date, there have been 10-thousand 566 DWI arrests in 2018.

Memorial Day the start of 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roads

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the deadliest 100 days on Minnesota roads is fast approaching. Memorial Day through Labor Day typically marks the deadliest timeframe on roads across the state, as preliminary numbers show that 121 of the 358 fatalities last year occurred during the 100-day stretch. So far this year, there have been 109 fatalities on Minnesota roads. In response to the increased number, State and Local Officials step up extra enforcement during the summer.
