Authorities report Carl's Corner in Essig was burglarized in the early morning hours on Wednesday, with the suspect making off with various items. The Brown County Sheriff's Office reports around 3:36 a.m., it received a report of an alarm and burglary in progress at the restaurant. The suspect or suspects reportedly forced entry into the building and took cash from a gambling box along with three bottles of Bacardi Rum. Suspect in robbery of Le Hillier Quick Mart arrested in Illinois

Authorities have arrested the primary suspect in the robbery of the Le Hillier Quick Mart early Tuesday morning. The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office reports 22-year old Clayton William Vaughn of Aurora, Illinois was taken into custody on Wednesday evening. Blue Earth County Sheriff's Officials have called off search efforts north of Saint Clair to find a suspect involved in a robbery at the Le Hillier Quick Mart around 1:56 a.m. Tuesday. According to the report, a male entered the store wearing a mask and displayed a blunt object, he then fled the scene after obtaining cash. Deputies located a suspicious black Cadillac CTS and pursued the vehicle through the South Bend Township and towards the intersection of County Road 90 and Highway 83. The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office is searching for a male that fled on foot following a robbery and pursuit Tuesday morning. According to the report, the Sheriff's Office is searching in the area of Highway 83 and County Road 90. The male was last seen wearing light brown pants and had on a black shirt but authorities suspect he discarded the shirt. Anyone who sees suspicious activity in the area is urged to call 911.
