UPDATE: North Mankato man appears before Judge after Friday night standoff

A North Mankato man made his initial appearance before a Nicollet County Judge on Monday afternoon following a standoff with Authorities on Friday night. According to court documents, 59-year old Scott Douglas Johnston is facing two Felony counts of 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and one Felony count of Terroristic Threats.  Johnston is accused of pointing a gun at two females, ages 8 and 9, and yelling that he would shoot them if they didn't stop playing on his lawn. North Mankato man facing Felony charges after standoff with Authorities

A North Mankato man is behind bars in Nicollet County after a nearly four-hour standoff with numerous law enforcement agencies on Friday night. Around 8 p.m., a call to the North Mankato Police Department stated that 59-year old Scott Douglas Johnston pointed a gun at two juvenile females. Police say Johnston then fled back to his residence in the 200 block of Cross Street.  The Minnesota River Valley Tactical Response Team along with the DNR, Minnesota State Patrol, Blue Earth and Nicollet County Sheriff's Offices and the North Mankato and Mankato Police Department responded to the scene.
