Remains of missing Sleepy Eye man possibly found on Sunday

Authorities in Brown County say a citizen using a rest area on Highway 4 near the Cottonwood River may have found the remains of a Sleepy Eye man that has been missing for nearly two months. Around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, the Brown County Sheriff's Office was contacted after the person observed a gun, clothing and what appeared to be bone. Blue Earth County Sheriff's Officials have called off search efforts north of Saint Clair to find a suspect involved in a robbery at the Le Hillier Quick Mart around 1:56 a.m. Tuesday. According to the report, a male entered the store wearing a mask and displayed a blunt object, he then fled the scene after obtaining cash. With high water on the Cottonwood River suspending the search and recovery efforts for a missing Sleepy Eye man, the Brown County Sheriff's Office is continuing search efforts by air. Search by water south of Sleepy Eye for 73-year old Vincent Mathiowetz was halted on June 11 due to strong currents, which made boat navigation nearly impossible. The Cottonwood River crested on Sunday at 15.43-feet and has since dropped to 14.11-feet, still in the moderate flood stage. Minnesota BCA joins Mankato Police in search for missing Mankato woman

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has joined the search for a missing Mankato woman. Mankato Police report they are still actively searching for 46-year Wendy Lynn Khan who was last heard from by family on June 1. Missing Mankato woman 46-year-old Wendy Khan. The search for a missing Sleepy Eye man is being suspended due to the Cottonwood River being over flood stage. The Brown County Sheriff's Office reports the search and recovery effort to find 73-year old Vincent Hugo Mathiowetz has become nearly impossible due to recent rains. Brown County Authorities report a missing Sleepy Eye man has still not been located after further search efforts on Wednesday. According to the report, Deputies and K-9 tracking dogs concentrated efforts approximately 3-1/2 miles south of Sleepy Eye and the Cottonwood River to search for 73-year old Vincent Hugo Mathiowetz who went missing on Sunday.
