Authorities: No credible evidence in threats complaint involving Prairie Winds Middle School

The Mankato Department of Public Safety reports there was no credible evidence in an adolescence disagreement connected to Prairie Winds Middle School on Tuesday evening. Commander Dan Schisel says a threats complaint was made around 9:30 p.m.  "A threat of some type of an assault. So, we've been working on it ever since and trying to determine what it was. We've determined it to be an adolescence disagreement. The Mankato Department of Public Safety-School Resource Officer and the School and determined there was no credible evidence." Schisle added that 'in today's environment, the Department has to take everything serious.'

New Ulm man in serious condition after reportedly shooting himself in rural Mankato

Authorities report a New Ulm man suffered serious injuries after reporting that he accidentally shot himself on Sunday morning. The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office reports 26-year old Andrew Timothy Wong was found seated in his car near the intersection of Highway 22 and County Road 90 around 9:20 a.m. Wong told first responders he was attempting to drive himself to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself at a park while looking at a friend's gun.  He was treated at the scene and later airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
