North Mankato is working to get ahead of the curve on new short-term rentals, like AirBnb, with a new ordinance being drafted on current rental property regulations and inspection guidelines. Short-term home rentals saw a boost during the Super Bowl earlier this year in Minneapolis and many Minnesota cities are now exploring how to regulate the new way to rent space for travelers to stay. Currently, the City of North Mankato knows of six residential properties that are being rented out through online marketplaces, such as Airbnb.
