$2.2M project at Spring Lake Park Swim Facility given the green light

An approximately 2.2-million dollar revamp of the Spring Lake Park Swim Facility in North Mankato has been approved to update the sand bottom pool that was constructed in the 1960's. Global Specialties was the lone bidder on the project and was awarded the contract. Officials seriously exploring bringing Hockey Day Minnesota to Mankato metro

North Mankato says it would like to throw its hat in the ring to host Hockey Day Minnesota. Officials say they are building a case after they saw a record number of 77 teams participate in the Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Tournament in January and there is now a new full-size outdoor hockey rink at Spring Lake Park.
