Some pundits predict chaos one week from today (1/6/21) when Congress meets to certify Electoral College votes in the presidential election. But Hamline University analyst David Schultz puts little stock in that prediction:

“In order for the challenge to be affirmed, there has to be a majority vote by both the Senate and by the House of Representatives — and… the House is not going to vote to overturn any of the electoral votes.”

Schultz says in the Republican-controlled U-S Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has put enormous pressure on fellow Republicans *not* to challenge the Electoral College results. Schultz says McConnell is worried such talk could sway two runoff elections in Georgia on January 5th, which will determine who controls the U-S Senate.
