A top infectious disease expert says America is in the “eye of the storm” of the COVID-19 pandemic. On NBC’s Meet The Press, Dr. Michael Osterholm of the University of Minnesota says while things appear to be going well, we could unravel quickly if variants spread quicker than vaccinations. He says older, unvaccinated Americans could be highly susceptible to a possible “fourth wave” of COVID caused by the variants starting to overtake the country. He said even with vaccinations, large crowds should still be avoided until the virus is fully under control.
