A tornado touched down in Waterville on Thursday evening, causing widespread damage.

One of the homes that lost a roof due to the twister belonged to Jonathan and Beth Smith. Lori Smith is the mother of Jonathan and described what happened to KTOE’s Brandon Lewis.

A line of strong thunderstorms pushed through the listening area shortly after 5:30 p.m., causing power outages along with downed tree limbs and power lines.

Three other tornadoes touched down in southern Minnesota including north of Faribault, near Northfield and West Concord.
