Two people were taken to the hospital after a house fire in New Ulm Tuesday night. The New Ulm Fire Department says shortly before 6 p.m. they were called to 717 South Valley Street on a report of a house fire. Fire officials say the blaze was contained to the kitchen. Two individuals were transported by Allina Ambulance and two cats perished in the fire. Authorities say the fire was contained to the kitchen but there was heavy smoke damage throughout the home. The Fire department says they were on the scene for an hour and a half and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
