An Iowa man was taken to the hospital one semi rear-ended another near New Ulm Monday afternoon.

Scanner traffic indicated that the crash occurred at, “U.S. Highway 14 and State Highway 15, injury will be lower back pain.” Law enforcement responded, “Be advised, it’s two semis. They are blocking.”

Minnesota State Patrol said both trucks were southbound on Highway 15 when the semi driven by 56-year-old David Rico of Cedar Falls, Iowa stopped at a stop sign to make a left-hand turn on to Highway 14 when he was hit from behind by a semi driven by 63-year-old Joel Krumrey of Renville.

Troopers said Rico was taken to the hospital in New Ulm with injuries that were not life-threatening.
