Construction of the fifth floor of the VINE Adult Community Center (VACC) will begin soon.

VINE acquired the former Nichols Building in 2012, renovated the first four floors and opened in 2014. Fundraising to finish the fifth floor began last year with Over the Edge for VINE — where individuals raised money in exchange for the opportunity to rappel from the roof. The event raised nearly $100,000 in 2017 and an additional $100,000 this year.

Organization officials say construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will include several large multipurpose areas for fitness classes and expanded space for programming and community gathering.

The renovation will also include an enlarged first-floor fitness center that they say will accommodate additional exercise machines, providing much needed space for the 1,600+ VACC members.
