Congressman Tim Walz of Mankato addressed delegates at the 100th American Legion National Convention Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis.

DFL Congressman has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 1st congressional district since 2007. He’s running in the 2018 governor’s race.

“When I see the American Legion gathering, and when I see these seats with you in it, I know that you are far more than Legionnaires. You are far more than veterans. You are the conscience of this nation.,” he said, and added, “That voice must always be heard, so thank you for taking the time to be heard. Thank you for committing to what we do.”

Walz, who is running for governor, spent 24 years in the Army National Guard before retiring as a command sergeant major and is the highest ranking enlisted soldier to ever serve in Congress.
