Governor Tim Walz is authorizing the full mobilization of the Minnesota National Guard, something that hasn’t been done since World War II. This comes after another night of destructive rioting throughout the Twin Cities:
“By this afternoon our hope is to.. .to exponentially have that force out there to use all of the resources in our state and our partnerships with sister cities and counties to help us.”
National Guard Major General Jon A. Jensen says they are also requesting national-level resources.
Governor Tim Walz says the situation in Minneapolis is no longer in any way about the murder of George Floyd:
“It is about attacking civil society, instilling fear, and disrupting our great cities.”
