President Trump today tweeted that Republicans should forget about immigration reform until after the November elections.

Mankato Democratic U.S. Congressman Tim Walz contends that he’s ready to work on comprehensive reform, but based on what President Trump said today that may be on hold and, “As it stands, last night at about 8:30 sitting in Washington we were ready to vote or to try and move something forward and we were told “nope” it’s canceled and I see the tweet this morning told Republicans to forget about it, don’t do anything on immigration until after the election and now you have children, families and everything else of the chaos that’s caused by this.”

DFL Congressman has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 1st congressional district since 2007. He’s running in the 2018 governor’s race.

He added that only Trump is to blame, saying, “The president caused this, the president tried to blame everyone except himself and this is a moral outrage to who we are and by signing the executive order he did nothing on reunification, it does nothing of the long-term detention.”

Trump tweeted Friday morning that Republicans should “stop wasting their time on immigration” until after more Republican Senators and Congressmen-women are elected in a “Red Wave” in November’s elections.
