A Minnesota lawmaker has asked the Department of Veterans Affairs come forth with information concerning allegations that members of President Donald Trump’s Florida club Mar-a-Lago have been secretly exerting influence over the VA and the administration’s approach to veterans policy.

DFL Congressman has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 1st congressional district since 2007. He’s running in the 2018 governor’s race.

House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Tim Walz has asked Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie to provide any and all communications between VA officials and Ike Perlmutter, Bruce Moskowitz, and Marc Sherman to Congress without delay.

Walz says, “This situation reeks of corruption and cronyism.”

He added that, “If these revelations prove true, and VA is being secretly run from the shadows of Mar-a-Lago by individuals with no accountability to taxpayers and who have never served in the United States military or government, then that would amount to an unprecedented, disturbing, and profoundly unacceptable betrayal of our nation’s veterans.”
