Governor Tim Walz is taking action to mitigate the risk of the spread of bird flu in Minnesota. Walz signed an executive order this week waiving trucking regulations to fight the spread of avian influenza. The order waives the strict enforcement of certain weight restriction regulations and hours of service requirements to help get unaffected animals transported to processing facilities. Minnesota is ranked first in the nation in turkey production. The state has more than 660 turkey farms that raise about 40-million birds each year.
