The Mankato Department of Public Safety has asked a judge to issue an arrest warrant for a 34-year-old Mankato man accused of shooting people with paintballs and threatening to exchange the Airsoft gun for a real one during Minnesota State University – Mankato’s homecoming last fall.
The criminal complaint shows that a summons to appear in court was mailed to Kylan Klein’s last known address, but was returned as undeliverable.
Police said Klein was hiding in the bushes on Warren Street in October, shooting paintballs at passers-by. The criminal complaint shows that one woman was hit in the face, and a man was hit in the front of his pants and also in his elbow. Another victim told investigators he was hit in the back and leg by several paintballs.
When the victims confronted Klein, they told police he not only showed no remorse but also stated, “I have more guns inside, including a 9 mm.” He also said he shot the victims because, “It was fun.”
Klein is facing charges that include three fifth degree assault counts, three of disorderly conduct, and one property damage charge.
