A 28-year-old woman from Fort Yate, North Dakota is facing preliminary charges of malicious punishment of a child and two counts of domestic assault after Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Deputies say she was accused of hitting her child in the face with her hand twice, and then with keys attached to a lanyard.
An employee of a residential treatment center in Garden City called police to report the abuse and said Brandi Hill has two children under age ten.
In an interview with investigators, the criminal complaint shows Hill admitted to smacking the boy, who wasn’t listening but denied hitting him with the keys.
She also admitted to grabbing her daughter by the ponytail to lead her through the building.
Deputies say surveillance video shows her hitting the child in the back of the head with the keys before slapping him twice in the face.
Hill was admitted for drug treatment a week earlier and said she was still coming down from drugs.
