A Woodbury man is facing several charges after the Mankato Department of Public Safety said he assaulted a man outside of the Loose Moose Saloon and Conference Center early Sunday morning.

Mankato Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel.

Commander Dan Schisel said,” There were a couple of females and a male walking. There’s a person either laying down on the sidewalk or passed out of something and I think the person that somehow become involved is the one that’s lying down or on the ground there.”

When officers arrived Schisel said they noted that one victim had, “Severe injury to an ear. Denied medical attention, however. He indicated that he would recognize the suspect. The suspect was located walking through the downtown mall area there.”

Schisel said 35-year-old Kyle Christiansen, “Became combative and needed to be tazed, as he was resisting arrest.” He was taken into custody without further incident.

As for the victim’s injury, Schisel explained that it’s likely that Christiansen bit him during the initial altercation. “I believe it to be bitted based on what I read,” he said, “But there could be other causes.”

Preliminary charges include first-degree assault, third-degree assault, fifth-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of the legal process.
