The Minnesota Department of Transportation is asking drivers to use caution on Highway 14 through Mankato and North Mankato starting Monday, as workers begin removing trees in preparation for construction.

MnDOT officials say that while there will be intermittent shoulder closures, no lane closures are anticipated, but drivers should remove distractions and be aware of workers in the area.

Tree removal is needed for completing culvert repair work at multiple locations, with most of it occurring on Highway 14 between Riverfront Drive and Highway 22.

The $5.3 million construction project on Highway 14 from Mankato to North Mankato is scheduled to begin June 11, and MnDOT says drivers will experience traffic delays due to lane closures, lane shifts and periodic ramp closures as crews work through the area in segments.
