MnDOT has pushed back the start date for construction on Highway 14 in Sleepy Eye due to the weather.

The project was supposed to start Monday, but weather has delayed crews from beginning work until Wednesday. The delay has pushed back the completion date to July 5.

The one-week closure is part of a 3.4-million dollar resurfacing project that started in May to allow city utility work on Main Street at 12th Avenue. This portion of work is one of three construction projects in the Sleepy Eye area in 2018. Work began on May 7 for a road resurfacing project on Highway 14 from Sleepy Eye to New Ulm and work on Highway 4 north of Sleepy Eye is anticipated to start on July 9.

Traffic will be detoured using 6th Avenue Northeast, Cedar Street Northeast and 12th Avenue Northeast.
