By |2021-04-30T07:52:07-05:00April 30th, 2021|

Today is National Honesty Day.  And we're gonna celebrate it the right way:  With a survey where clearly a ton of people lied.  The survey asked people how often they tell lies. And the top answer is . . . NEVER.  27% of people say they never lie.  That is a lie. 18% of people say they lie once a year or less.  That's also a lie.  And another 18% say they lie a couple of times a month. On the other end of things, 6% of people say they tell around one lie a day, and 6% say they tell [...]

Rude Things You Shouldn’t Be Doing at the Grocery Store

By |2021-04-29T07:41:21-05:00April 29th, 2021|

A lot of people have been getting groceries delivered during COVID.  So some of us may have forgotten our grocery store manners.  Here are six tips: Don't leave your cart in the middle of the parking lot.  It blocks parking spaces, and it's just annoying.  Take the extra 30 seconds to return it. Don't leave the checkout line to go grab another item.  If the line is three people deep and you're still waiting, fine.  But once you're checking out, you can't leave. Don't block the aisle with your cart.  Move it to the side so other people can get by.  [...]

One Out of Every Seven Things You Say Is Gossip

By |2021-04-29T07:35:52-05:00April 29th, 2021|

There's no amount of social distancing that can keep us from our one true love:  Talking about other people when they're not around. A new study out of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire found that about 14% of our conversations every day are gossip . . . even today, with lots of conversations happening over Zoom.  That means one out of every seven things you say is gossip. But . . . the research found not all gossip is necessarily BAD.  Most of our gossip isn't negative . . . it's neutral.  And that's because most of the time, our goal [...]

Five Signs You’re at a Bad Pizza Place

By |2021-04-28T15:53:30-05:00April 28th, 2021|

Here are five signs you're at a bad pizza place . . . It's super cheap.  Some places opt for quantity over quality, which is fine.  Just know you're probably not getting the BEST pizza. The crust looks too pale.  The crust is really important.  So don't settle on a place where you always eat the main part of the pizza but toss the crusts. Ask what type of flour they use.  If it's "bleached" or "bromated," that's a bad sign.  Potassium bromate is a food additive used to make the crust rise.  And it's banned in some countries because it's [...]

By |2021-04-22T08:06:13-05:00April 22nd, 2021|

Happy Earth Day, everyone!  Did you know it's over 50 years old now?  A guy from Iowa named John McConnell came up with it in 1969, and the first Earth Day happened a year later in 1970. So are you doing anything good for the planet today?  Well, it doesn't have to be a chore.  A recent survey asked people to name the top eco-friendly things they do that make them proud, or spark joy.  Here are ten things we actually enjoy doing . . . Recycling.  Rinsing it out first also made the list. Turning off lights when you leave a room. Remembering [...]

What’s a Red Flag That Someone’s a “Bad Friend”?

By |2021-04-21T08:46:45-05:00April 21st, 2021|

What's a red flag that someone you're friends with will never be a REALLY good friend, or could even be toxic?  Here are a few answers we've seen . . . They treat you differently when you're in a group.  They might seem nice and supportive when you're alone.  But not so much when other friends are around. When it feels like you're constantly helping them or going out of your way.  Friends do that for each other SOMETIMES.  But it can't be one-sided. They always try to one-up you.  It's a sign they only want the focus to be on [...]

What’s Something in an Online Dating Profile That’s an Immediate Turnoff?

By |2021-04-20T07:08:58-05:00April 20th, 2021|

Someone asked people to name things in dating profiles that are immediate turnoffs.  Here are a few decent ones we've heard . . . Having no bio at all.  It ruins your chances because people don't know what you have in common, or how to start a conversation with you. Listing REQUIREMENTS that have to do with looks, like height and weight.  Even if someone fits the requirements, being too superficial can be a turnoff. The line, "Don't waste my time."  It makes you sound irritated before we've even talked to you. Photos where you're flipping off the camera.  It's pretty [...]

By |2021-04-20T07:05:11-05:00April 20th, 2021|

I know "4/20" isn't about booze, but is there some crossover here?  Someone looked at the go-to fast food that each state orders when they're DRUNK. They did it by looking at Google search trends on the biggest drinking days of the year, like New Year's Eve and Fourth of July.  And the biggest surprise is that Taco Bell did NOT rank very high. Here are the most popular drunk fast foods . . . McDonald's.  It's #1 in 22 states. Burger King, 14 states. Wendy's, four states.  (Mississippi, Ohio, West Virginia, and Montana.) Waffle House, three states.  (Alabama, Georgia, and [...]

Is This the Worst Day of the Week to Eat Fast Food?

By |2021-04-19T07:44:57-05:00April 19th, 2021|

This is the opinion of one person who's probably 17.  So we're not putting too much stock in it, but who knows . . . Someone who recently quit their job at a popular fast food restaurant got on Reddit to reveal various "secrets" most people don't know. And the one we noticed was that there's a specific day of the week when they claim the food tastes worse. They say that on SUNDAYS, the quality of the food tends to suffer, because they never have senior management there.  So people slack off and don't care as much. We've seen other [...]
