Things I’ve Noticed

By |2021-07-26T11:19:46-05:00July 26th, 2021|

I got on the motorcycle and rode back to my parents on Sunday. My sister was there with her kids. Turns out my niece wants to be a crime scene investigator. There was so many chalked outline of bodies. I noticed I'm not the creepy old guy type, I'm more the old dad figure. "Why is she wearing that" "Who left her leave the house like that?" Summer has been moving, always does... but where did July go. People were everywhere this weekend... so many activities for all of us to enjoy!

Live music feels good... now I've been going to live shows wherever I could find them the entire time, but Saturday at Rockin on the Hill just felt soooo good. Bring on Summer Jam and Rib Fest! Our final parade of the season was Sunday in New Ulm, Bavarian Blast - which was a blast. Except the New Ulm route is always a brutal one. Long and hot! So worth it when you get to talk to so many friends and listeners. I noticed I haven't had pizza in a week, and this is concerning to me. If you make people [...]

The Top Ice Cream Truck Treats

By |2021-07-15T08:16:41-05:00July 15th, 2021|

The sound of an ice cream truck was the greatest thing in the world as a kid.  But as adults, it's like . . . "Oh, cool.  I can also get most of that stuff at the STORE now though." Someone looked at Google Trends to find the most popular ice cream truck treat in all 50 states.  But general interest and grocery sales may have skewed the stats, because KLONDIKE BARS are #1 overall. 1.  Klondike Bars, nine states. 2.  Choco Tacos, eight states. 3.  Red-white-and-blue Firecracker popsicles, seven states plus D.C. 4.  Ice cream sandwiches, five states. 5.  Lemon [...]

This roundabout painting thing overnight shouldn't be as much pain as it has been.... am I wrong? New babies are very exciting! I was very happy to see my sister Sunday and my new nephew... but a week old baby does only a few tricks... eat, sleep, and poop. So I held him for twenty minutes or so and then was like okay... Maybe I'm a jerk? Fun days are always a blast, so glad that it took place this weekend. Hopefully, everyone got out and enjoyed it. Noticed it's already halfway point of summer, Major League baseball's All-Star break is [...]

26% of Thank Yous Are Insincere

By |2021-07-06T11:24:13-05:00July 6th, 2021|

The U.K. celebrates "Thank You Day" on July 4th . . . just as America is celebrating its Independence Day. So British researchers conducted a study on how and when we show our appreciation . . . and there are some interesting findings. For starters, the average adult will say "thank you" 207 times a month, which is roughly 6.8 times per day.  That's a lot of gratitude . . . but some of it is FAKE. On average, 54 of those thank yous are insincere.  That's 26%. About a quarter of people surveyed think that's a problem . . . [...]

Someone asked 2,000 people what they DIDN'T miss while working from home . . . and the top answer was small talk. One in three people were happy they didn't have to be chatty at work . . . 31% liked that they didn't have to look presentable . . . and 27% didn't miss battling TRAFFIC every day. 58% of people DID miss some aspects of their commute, though. And the top thing people missed about it was what you're doing RIGHT NOW. Over half said they really missed listening to the RADIO or podcasts . . . and 55% [...]

Things I’ve Noticed

Very few people complained about the rain this weekend. Most still went and did their things... including running! I made my way onto the bike path again this weekend. I noticed most people only using one earbud so they can hear me coming... and to the one guy who was scared when I rode past him after yelling I'm coming up the left side... sorry, not sorry. I noticed the only reason I was friends with some people in high school was that I saw them 5 days a week. It should be socially acceptable to be able to turn off [...]

The Best Foods to Order on a First Date

By |2021-06-22T08:30:19-05:00June 22nd, 2021|

If you've had a first date go south, there's a chance it was because you ordered the WRONG MEAL. A new survey asked what foods were best to order on a first date. Pizza came out on top . . . followed by burgers, salad, steak, and ice cream.  The rest of the top 10 was:  A roast dinner, lasagna, chicken wings, stir fry, and a chocolate brownie. Oysters were named the #1 food to AVOID on a first date . . . followed by mussels, sushi, crab, lobster, curry, tuna steak, prawns, ribs, and corn on the cob. It's interesting [...]

Heard two guys complaining about the graduating class this year, and made me think that 10,000 years ago, two cavemen were definitely sitting around complaining about how soft the younger generation of cavemen were for cooking their food. I'm convinced after Sunday, mother nature doesn't like giving us what we want. As all the rain kept going around Kato... all day! I notice this with every mother or father's day... if you don't tell them on social media, do you even love your parents? If you live every day like it's your last, you'll never have clean clothes because nobody wants [...]

Top Gifts Dads Want for Father’s Day This Year

By |2021-06-18T08:28:52-05:00June 18th, 2021|

If you haven't gotten your dad anything for Father's Day yet, you've still got time to get most of the stuff on this list.  Someone polled a bunch of dads and asked what they want for Father's Day.  Here are the top ten things dads are hoping to get . . . Doing something special with the family, like a hike or going to a pool.  A separate Father's Day poll ALSO found that's #1 this year. A card.  It actually tied for first place. Clothes. Something homemade.  Especially dads with young kids. Tools. Electronics. Something related to one of his hobbies. [...]
