(Verndale, MN) — A woman and her one-year-old are hospitalized following a house fire in central Minnesota Wednesday night. The Wadena County Sheriff’s office says crews responded to a fire at a house on the 400-block of Brown Street NW in Verndale. Responders had to enter the house through an upstairs window to find the baby girl, who was then airlifted to a hospital in Minneapolis. Her mother was treated for burns and smoke inhalation, most of which were suffered when she tried to rescue her child. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
