It will be a busy day for the Mankato City Council today. The council will conduct three interviews for the city manager position. John Prescott, the current city manager of Vermillion, South Dakota will be interviewed at nine a.m. At ten-25 a.m, Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez, the current manager of Wasco, California will be interviewed. The third and final city manager candidate interview will be Susan Arntz, the city administrator of Waconia, at eleven-50. A special meeting of the council will begin at one-45 p.m to deliberate a city manager appointment. If all goes well, the city will authorize the Mercer Group to negotiate an employment contract with the selected candidate. The council will look to formally appoint a new city manager at its meeting Monday night. The city is seeking a replacement for Pat Hentges, who is retiring at the end of the year after 25 years in the position.
