Governor Tim Walz says he and legislative leaders are getting involved to try to bring unresolved state budget bills to a compromise before he likely calls the legislature back into special session on Monday:

“I planning on working all weekend with them….  We should be able to come in Monday and wrap this thing up.  That would be my hope.   We’ll see.  But that’s up to the legislature.”

Walz says things are down to the wire and people want a “whole bunch” of policy items, but “it isn’t gonna happen.”  The governor says “what we should do is finish the budget…”
